Would You Ever Go Parasailing?

Parasailing in Lake TahoeIf you can believe it, that’s Dave and I waaaay up there! We were visiting Lake Tahoe and had the chance to go parasailing. I confess I was terribly nervous at first, especially when I saw how high the other parasailers were going. But I pretended to be brave and went through with it. And I’m so glad I did!

It was an amazing experience. For as loud as the boat was on the water below when you’re that high up everything is so quiet and peaceful and it feels just like you’re floating. I loved it! I imagine it’s what being a kite or a bird feels like. The view is simply gorgeous too.

Here’s a few photos from our parasailing adventure:

Parasailing Lake Tahoe CA

Parasailing Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe Parasailing As a grand finale they decide to dip us into the water to get our toes wet. It was a crazy feeling to go from so high up to all the way down and touching the water!

Parasailing Water DipAs you can see, they dipped a little more than Dave’s toes! Mine are barely touching the surface while his legs got a good dunk! .

I loved parasailing and even though I was nervous at first, I’m so happy to have gone. In fact, I can’t wait to go again sometime soon!

What about you? Would you ever go parasailing? Have you gone? What did you think?

  1. md kennedy says:

There are few things that involved heights that I will do, but I have been in a helicopter and I love flying in planes. Parasailing is one more thing I’d love to try!

  2. Olivia Rubin says:

No. I would be more likely to skydive. I live in south Florida and often hear of accidents that occur. Possibly because you have people with boats and a parasail with little training opening a business not for the sports sake, but money. I would love to paddle board though

  3. Jennifer Marie says:

again, i just look at this in awe. I would love to go but just do not think i could.

  4. Seems safe enough, except for a few folks getting dragged across beaches.

  5. Nope – won’t and can’t do it – too afraid of heights! I would love pix from up there though…

  6. I had an opportunity to go parasailing once when I was little, but they said I didn’t weigh enough to go =(

  7. Austin Baroudi says:

That looks so fun! I would love to go someday!

  8. april yedinak says:

I would never be able to do it. Just looking at your pictures makes me want to hug the floor. I wish I weren’t such a chicken.

  9. saminder gumer says:

i have gone and i will again. it is fun and exhilarating.

  10. I think that parasailing would be a great way to spend some vacation time.

  11. Carolyn A Colley says:

No way would I try this, maybe when I was younger and a much more dare devil, but not now

  12. Wow, great picture! I would love to go parasailing!

  13. I would love this! Looks like fun!

  14. You are brave! Not sure I would be able to go through with it, but it looks like fun…when you’re done!

  15. I have gone parasailing. I went when we went to Hawaii when I was 19 and it was a great experience I will never forget! I would do it again if I ever make it back to Hawaii which I am planning to do!

  16. I would totally do it. I once did a thing called a Spinnaker which is basically the same except the boat is not moving, it’s all wind powered. I think it would be cool to do it even faster and higher

  17. Yes! I’ve always wanted to try out para sailing, but for some reason I always equated it with an ocean front vacation like Florida or Hawaii…I live really close to Lake Tahoe! Maybe this summer!

  18. Jennifer Marie says:

I would love to do it…I may chicken out at the last minute though :)

  19. Looks like fun but I don’t think I would try it.

  20. Rich Hicks says:

Lucky you! Parasailing is on my bucket list. I would only do it with someone that has lots of expexperience!

  21. Susan Smith says:

I would go parasailing if I had the chance. It looks fun and scary at the same time, kind of like a rollar coaster.

  22. I have gone parasailing a couple of times. I LOVE it!! The biggest surprise to me the first time was how you go from so much noise from the boat, then as you go higher and higher in the air, it’s absolutely quiet. I thought it would be noisier, more frightening, but it is so peaceful and lovely! It’s funny that you mention the same thing. Great photos!!

  23. Christina says:

I am so afraid of heights its crazy, I actually don’t even have to be that high but if my feet aren’t touching something solid, I start to feel panic. But, I have always wanted to go parasailing because I thought the views would be just too amazing to miss. I knew I’d have to to it tandem though so I had someone there to calm me. Finally a few years ago, hubby and I went. We had a great time and I am glad I did it… I was fine looking out and around… not down tho lol. Actually I’ve done a lot of crazy things (ziplining – amazing! scenic ski lift – eeek! I was with my SIL who is also afraid of heights, I think we were both afraid to breath haha) people laugh at me because I’m still afraid of climbing a ladder lol

  24. My son and husband love to go parasailing. Everytime we go somewhere that they have it, it’s the first thing both of them want to do. Me not so much.

  26. chelesa sims says:

I use to think about it and i wanted to but not so much anymore.

  27. I am afraid of water and heights and somehow someone convinced me to go parasailing. I LOVED it. It is so peaceful and quiet up in the sky…

  28. No! I wouldn’t even go on a fourth foot ladder I’m afraid of heights

  29. Mary Beth Elderton says:

I might. I am terribly afraid of heights–it’s a real panic trigger for me. However, I am a good swimmer and am not afraid of the water (I *do* have a healthy respect for water!) I think that I would be able to remain calm and enjoy flying if it were water under me. This looks like such fun for you. To celebrate his graduation from medical school, we gave my son and DIL an Xperience Days Hot Air Balloon ride over Houston. TX. They are more adventurous than I am–I don’t think I’d do that :)

  30. Wow I could never do that. Im afraid of heights

  31. My husband and son have done it several times. I tried but couldn’t do it. As soon as they started strapping me in I said no thanks.

  32. Thomas Murphy says:

I have been parasailing and its awesome! everybody should try it at least once.

  33. Trasina McGahey says:

Ohhh no! No, no, no! Nope, uh uh. My feet belong on solid ground lol. I bet that view was amazing though!

  46. I would do it, I have done allot of crazy things..

    1. Free falled from 13,000 and 9000 feet.
    2. Repelled down a beautiful mountainside and waterfall, on a island south of South Korea.
    3. I have bungee jumped.

  51. Jesselyn A/Jesstinger says:

After sharing your post here (and discussing the possibility of us going for it) I realized I had a few second thoughts and concerns (Okay, FEARS!) as well as comment that might help others :

My question is HOW did you bite the bullet and overcome your fears/calm your nerves so that you could fully let go and enjoy it? I worry that my stomach will react “violently” or worse, that I’ll have a heart attack! (Highly unlikely I know) but I am not a big fan of mega Roller Coasters which always make my stomach highly distressed and reactionary!

On the other hand, while like many who’ve commented here – I DO have a fear of heights – but find it does NOT apply in the case of Parasailing – because of the security provided by being strapped in, with the comforting presence/knowledge of the Parachute/Sail and doing it over WATER instead of LAND (or worse concrete or rocks!)

I think I could really get into it and enjoy it like Tesa (you) if I could just get my stomach to relax and my heartbeat to go with the flow…! Thanks again Tesa, I think we might really give parasailing a try!

  52. I’d totally go parasailing! It doesn’t look so dangerous and I’m sure the view would be well worth it!

  53. Nicole Tackett says:

I would love to try this!

  54. I would never go parasailing. I’m not an adventurous person, although I secretly wish I were. Enjoy!!

  55. Harmony B says:

Tried it once in Bermuda it was fun and beautiful

  56. You are one brave lady! I think I will leave this type of fun to folks like you and your husband. I will stick to the merry go round. LOL!

  57. Emily W says:

It looks really peaceful up there, but I don’t think I would like it. I would be terrified the whole time and not able to enjoy the view.

  58. Michelle H. says:

Every time I see someone parasailing on t.v., I want to try it. It looks like so much fun!

  59. Looks too scary for me!

  60. Betty Baez says:

Awesome pictures! I would absolutely not do it I’m afraid I wouldnt enjoy it because of my huge fear of heights

  61. Blake Kaplan says:

    Way too dangerous to me

  62. Mandy H says:

I’m way to afraid of heights to go parasailing! LOL But glad to see you got over your fear!

  63. Jesselyn A/Jesstinger says:

Funny you should mention this as my Honey/Hubby and recently been talking about going parasailing as our next great adventure! We use to go windsurfing a lot – but the years and a couple of uninvited visits from cancer have taken their toll and made that activity a little too trying…

But parasailing sounds almost as wonderful – without so much heavy lifting (and we don’t mind getting wet!) It’s funny that while sky-diving has never had any appeal to us – parasailing sounds so alluring and fun! Thanks!

  64. Kimberly says:

I would love to try but I never will because I have a fear of heights. But hubby would go up in a nano-second! He loves that kind of stuff.

  65. Sandy VanHoey says:

Ya know, I am afraid of heights so don’t think I could do it. But it looks like so much fun! Gotta give you credit for doing this.

  66. I love parasialing. I would love to go one day with my kids

  67. I have never done this…but I would love to! What a blast!

  68. I’m glad you had fun! I’m not sure I’d be brave enough for parasailing!

  69. Rebecca Shockley says:

I would never ever leave that much air between me and the ground, lol. I think you look frightened and in almost every picture, your like white knuckling the harness’s your holding onto.

  70. Maralea says:

Pretty awesome pictures! I would like to think I would be this daring, but when the time came I may think otherwise!

  71. So cool !

  72. debbie jackson says:

i would love to do this………..how fun debbie jackson,
