Chautauqua is a historic lakefront community in Western New York. It’s only about 2 hours from Cleveland and it is a gorgeous place to get away from it all. Every year 170,000 people spend their summer vacation in Chatuaqua where they experience memories to last a lifetime.

From June 25th – August 28th, Chautuaqua Institution offers a wide variety of activities and events for those interested in the arts, education, music, religion, youth programs, and recreation. There are lectures, classes, performances, and events for all ages.

Chautauqua is proud of it’s small town feel with a worldly attitude. On a typical summer day you can stroll through the streets of the lakeside town and admire the cute and quaint cottages.

And later in the day can watch performances in a beautiful open air amphitheater by Alison Krauss, Straight No Chaser, Clint Black, Steve Martin’s Bluegrass Band, The Beach Boys and more.

Chautuqua has much to offer for Arts and Education lovers as well. From Chautauqua’s own Symphony Orchestra, Opera Company, Musical Festival, and more to the lectures, special studies, and book clubs there’s something for everyone.

    I love to travel and in our own country is as far as I am every gonna get! I had no idea about Chautauqu in New York. I just love to visit historical locations, mostly to see the architecture. This place looks like it would be a lot of fun! It’s on the travel bucket list!

    I have never heard of this place, but it is a wonderful place to vacation. I like the sites and the wonderful water that surrounds this place. A vacation at Chautauqua would be awesome for me and my family

  3. Having grown up in upstate New York, I’ve been to Western New York but never to Chautauqua. I had no idea so much was going on there! If I ever get back to New York, I’ll definitely keep Chautauqua on my list of places to visit. Thanks!

    I’ve passed by Chautauqua many times while traveling. I never knew it had so much to offer! I think we will check it out as I love beautiful historic places, and it’s not far from where I live!

    I love Chautauqua! We spend a lot of time down there. I have an aunt with a cottage on the lake. It is a great place to visit!

    I have driven by there many times (I am originally from central NY), but haven’t stopped in for a visit (yet). There are many great, historic places to visit in NY and summer and fall are the best times to visit.

    Would love to listen in on Steve Martins Blue Grass Band. Seems like a beautiful place, love those hills..miss those NY hills, as I am now in south Florida.the nice thing about towns like this is they usually have a Main Street that is still up and running that shoppers frequent.

  64. We visited there last summer- I would recommend camping there if you’re going in the summer, as the hotels there are on the pricey side during that time . Definitely a beautiful place!
