Back in 2008, we took our first and only cruise. We went on a Carnival Cruise and it really was such a completely different vacation than anything we had ever taken.

Cruise ShipWe enjoyed the never-ending food options as well as the wide array of activities and entertainment.

Carnival CruiseOn the ship, there was always something to do from watching ice carving demonstrations to musicals and even a nightly on deck movies, we were definitely never bored.

First CruiseOff the ship we had the chance to visit Caribbean Islands where we could relax on the beach all day or shop and tour the local towns and villages.

IslandOne of our favorite parts of the cruise was the gorgeous sunsets. Nearly every night the ship’s rails would be lined with passengers, cameras in hand, ready to take a shot of the brilliant sunset. Here’s one of ours:

SunsetWe enjoyed our time on our cruise and hope to go again someday soon.

What about you? Have you ever been on a cruise? What did you think?

  2. Olivia Rubin says:

I have never been a cruise and now that I live in South Florida, it would be the most economical to go since I live so close to the port in Miami. When my parents went on their cruises, the reason it was so affordable was because they only had to drive less than 1 hour to get to the ship.

I want to go on one that has all the activities. Like rock climbing and a zip line. I know that many would accommodate my needs of having a service dog with me, but I don’t know if she would understand that she was “at work” 24-7″ . I guess there would be an area to let her fetch a tennis ball, but I know that when ever drive to the beach she starts squealing when she smells the water. I can just see us now on the ship and she is squealing at the water surrounding us. She knows her job and she does it great, but from NY we didn’t run into pools all the time, so we didn’t train to not go in. When we saw a pool it was for her to swim in. Yeah, I don’t think the cruise line wants her swimming. That would be the best though and then all the meat she can eat at the buffet

  51. We were married on our first cruise and have done 2 more since then. We actually just booked one a couple of days ago for the month of September traveling up the east coast to Canada from New Jersey. It will be more of a sightseeing cruise than an all out relaxing one. I am personally looking forward to it, I hear Maine and Canada are beautiful that time of year.

  57. I took an Alaskan Cruise and loved everything about it. Beautiful scenery, great food and fun side trips.

  58. We went on a cruise about 5 years ago – I must say I probably won’t go on one again. One a plus side I found it really calm in the middle of the ocean and saw some dolphins. The sunsets were really cool too. The down side for me was that we got bored on the ship. The pool was always too crowded and a lot of times things were not happening. When we ported there was no beach unless you paid to be driven far away to a beach. I think I would rather go to the beach for a vacation

  59. Jasmine W. says:

This looks like so much fun! I’ve never been on a cruise, but I’d really like to go on one soon!

  60. I have been on one cruise and loved it. It would be so much fun to take the whole family.

  63. I’ve never been on a cruise, but my parents go on at least one a year (they live 40 minutes from a port city, so it’s an easy vacation for them!) They say they’ll take us one of these days, and I’m really looking forward to it.

  64. Betty Baez says:

  74. Yes… we love to cruise and just got back from a 5 day cruise on which we took our 20 month old twins. It was actually their second one. We took them the first time when they were 15 months old.

  75. Ahh, it looks heavenly … however, after what’s happened with the Italian cruise ship, I’m probably not the only one that is rethinking it… Not sure I could even coax my kids on a Disney cruise at this point! Yikes!

  76. We took our first cruise in Sept of 2009 when Phoenix was 9 months old. I forget the ship’s name, but it was a Carnival cruise from Maryland to The Bahamas. It was nice that we could just hang out & relax. Normally, I’m always on the go during vacations.
