Myrtle Beach Trip Review With Vision Airlines & Springmaid Beach Resort

Dave and I spent this past weekend in Myrtle Beach. It was an incredible trip and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. With blue skies, sun, sand, and the beach we had such a wonderful time that we are already checking our schedules to to figure out how soon we will be able to return!

Myrtle BeachWe flew down on Vision Airlines out of Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Vision Airlines just recently started offering service out of Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati and a few other regional locations directly to Myrtle Beach. I was browsing their website before we left and I have to say, I’m impressed with their prices. They have a number of sales going on now that make flights to Myrtle Beach very affordable.

We took the flight out of Cleveland on Thursday evening. When the plane arrived the sun was just setting and we couldn’t wait to board.

Vision AirlinesThe airplane was a good size with three seats in each row. On both our way down and way back we didn’t have full planes so they allowed the passengers to move around and find seats they were comfortable with. There were many people who enjoyed a full row to themselves on the way back.

Vision Airlines ReviewThis photo was taken when everyone was still boarding. It wasn’t this empty! But the plane was nice and I wanted to share a picture of the interior.

I loved how friendly the flight attendants were. They didn’t just do their jobs and then hide. They were out and about and chatted with various passengers learning about where they were coming from and what their plans were when they arrived at their destination. They shared stories of their own lives as well. It was nice to get to know one another a bit as we waited for the plane to get ready for take off.

Once in the air, I was excited that they actually offered snacks! And good ones too. The shortbread cookies were delicious! I thought this was a nice touch that many airlines overlook these days. I also loved that in nearly every seat was a copy of the Myrtle Beach Visitor’s Guide.

Vision Airlines ReviewsWe enjoyed our round trip flight with Vision Airlines and recommend them to anyone flying to Myrtle Beach in the coming months.

Once we arrived in Myrtle Beach we headed straight for Springmaid Beach Resort. I checked out the resort online before we left and spent many minutes watching their live streaming webcam. It’s so fun and offers a great shot of the beach and their pier. Since we’ve returned I have to confess, I’ve been stalking the webcam a bit checking on the weather and daydreaming about the beach.

The hotel is amazing. It’s located at the south end of the Grand Strand and this location makes it feel like you are on a private beach.

Springmaid Beach Resort Beach

Springmaid Beach Myrtle BeachNot only did we love the beach at this resort but we enjoyed the Springmaid Pier as well. The pier is over 1,000 feet long and is a great place for a stroll any time of the day.

Springmaid Pier

Springmaid Beach PierWe were there during the King Mackeral tournament and it was fun to watch the long, shiny, sparkly fish being caught. We were also amazed to see the school of sharks waiting for any fish leftovers to be tossed over the pier!

SharksOur room at Springmaid Beach Resort was lovely. It was a large room with two queen beds, a dining area, a full refrigerator.

Springmaid Beach Resort ReviewWe were pleased with the dining options offered at the resort as well.

BarnaclesBARnacles – This restaurant by the pier has fantastic Fish Tacos & Cuban Sandwiches

Springmaid Beach MarlinsMarlins – delicious breakfast buffet with a waffle bar and an omelet station. Lunch and dinner buffets are also available.

And the pools looked amazing! With a number of pools, lazy rivers,  hot tubs and the ocean just steps away this resort is every water lovers dream.

Springmaid Beach Pools

Springmaid Beach Resort PoolsThe daily activities were fun too. One day they had volleyball, sand castle building, Minute to Win It, and more scheduled. We were so excited to hear about their Sunday night Luau too. It sounded like an unforgettable experience but since we left Sunday afternoon we didn’t get a chance to experience it. It is definitely on our list for our next visit!

We loved Springmaid Beach Resort and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Myrtle Beach. It’s a beautiful place that puts you right on the beach and has so many wonderful amenities it’s sure to be a trip you won’t forget.

While in Myrtle Beach we had some time to drive around and see the sights. We saw the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel which looks like so much fun!

Myrtle Beach Sky WheelWe went on a Dolphin Sightseeing Cruise at Express Watersports. We didn’t see any dolphins but we did see a lot of pelicans and it was a beautiful day for a boat ride so we had fun anyway.

Dolphin CruiseWe watched the sunset from the balcony of Gulf Stream Cafe. It was gorgeous.

Gulf Stream CafeWe had dinner at California Dreaming, which if you’ve never had their appetizer of a Basket of Croissants – you must! They are amazing and definitely the best croissants I’ve ever had. They were topped with honey butter and were so light, fluffy, with just a touch of sweetness I nearly ate the entire order myself!

Califonia Dreaming Croissants

California DreamingWe loved their wraps too!

We also ate Aspen Grille where we enjoyed the Tomato Mozzarella Crostini and Oscar Mahi Mahi. The atmosphere was lovely here, very intimate and cozy, and the food was fine dining at its best and delicious. We were impressed when Dave asked the waiter for a little salt for our sauteed spinach and he brought out three different kinds!

Aspen GrilleWe went to The Carolina Opry. It was an entertaining show that offered a great mix of country and popular music renditions, dancers, and comedy routines.

Carolina Opry

Carolina Opry ReviewAt The Carolina Opry we truly enjoyed the performances by All That! a clogging/tap dancing group that came in second place on America’s Got Talent. They were our favorite part of the show. Their energy, enthusiasm, and talent were incredible!

Carolina Opry All ThatWe had a fantastic time at Myrtle Beach and we highly recommend flying Vision Airlines and staying at Springmaid Beach Resort.

We enjoyed the flight and the resort as well as all of the other activities and restaurants. We love that Myrtle Beach has so much to offer. It’s an amazing town that encourages you to be on the go every minute of every day while at the same time offering the chance to slow down and spend hours on the beach. Or you can do a bit a both. There really is something for everyone in Myrtle Beach and we can’t wait to go back!

What about you? Have you ever been to Myrtle Beach?

Flights, accommodations, meals, and tickets were provided. No compensation was received. The honest opinions are my own and those of my family.

  8. I have wanted to go to Myrtle Beach for 20 years. I have been to many places, but I have heard so many good things about it. You did an excellent job with the review. I just want to go today!!!! You mentioned the prices were reasonable, that’s a bonus.. I will just have to find out what is the best time of year to go….Thanks So Much:)

  9. I’ve never been to Myrtle Beach – but reading your post make me want to go!

  10. I have been. But your trip looks so much nicer than mine was. There were a multitude of snafus (for which I alone am responsible) on my trip.

Seeing your photos ignites my goal to live on the beach for the rest of my life once I’m ready to make that final move. I will be ocean side one day.

  11. My husband was stationed at Camp Lejune after joining the Marines. He would make trips to Myrtle Beach and tell me about it. I love the ocean but never made it there. Life is just to busy and too expensive.

  12. Looks great! Nice pictures!

I’ve never been to Myrtle Beach, but it looks like an awesome place to take a vacation. I like places where you can relax, but you also have the option of going out and about, where it’s busy and there are things to do.

Those views are absolutely gorgeous! I’d love to stay in such a beautiful place.

My family and i went to Myrtle Beach last year.We stayed at well I forgot the name. something with Breeze at the end and it was on the beach. The hotel Rooms were incredible but some of the staff I wasn’t too happy with. The acted kind of snotty .My son cried everytime we went to the beach and my daughter cried because she didn’t want to leave. The beach and the trip was excellent. We drove there because it is only a 4-5hour drive for us.I love the mall down the street from the beach .Amazing how you can walk around outside instead of inside and go into shops.

Holy Cow! Myrtle Beach looks like paradise. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about Myrtle Beach, but I’m happy to finally see it for myself…kinda!
I can’t believe you actually saw sharks in the ocean, that’s kinda….scary! JAWS!
By the way, your children are absolutely ADORABLE!
And your description of the “Basket of Croissants” has made me very hungry. Sounds so good right about now.

  19. I enjoyed your myrtle beach vaction that you shared, I am 65 yrs.old and will be meeting my 3 daugthers and grandkids in myrtle beach for a week reunion, the first since my husband(their dad, passed away in Oct) I am worried about all the negative reviews I found on Vision and was hoping you could answer a few questions for me. Thanks for sharing the inside of the plane, that helps. I think I have done my homework on Vison, but still am lery. I just wanted to know if the ride was smooth ,reports are the planes have a rough flight and poor take off and landing, hours of delay. How was your check in with the luguage? I plan to only take a carry on but my daughter will have to check hers in. We will be flying out of Louisville. This company has been flying for 18 yrs. I am hoping this plane is not that old ,but I realize that alot of planes are,we have been on quite afew of them. Myrtle beach is like our second home,we stayed for a month last Nov., soon after we found out Mike had stage 4 lung cancer. It will be a bittersweet reunion but I am looking forward to the time I will get to spend with family! One of my daughters and her 2 children(the kids have never flown before) will be going with me. Hope I haven’t bored u. I would appreciate it if you could answer me soon. We want to book, since we will be leaving July 7th. Thanks for your time.

      Hi Linda,

I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s passing. We enjoyed flying Vision and would recommend it. We had a delay when we left. It was about two hours because they had to bring in a different plane but other than that we had no issues. We found the take off and landing to be smooth. We didn’t actually check any luggage but since you can’t check-in online through the Cleveland airport we had to stand in line with those who were and it didn’t look like it was a problem. Everything appeared to run smoothly. I found the staff both at check-in and on the flight to be extremely pleasant and hope you have the same experience.

I hope your flight goes well and that you have a wonderful time in Myrtle Beach!
