Dave and I spent this past weekend in Myrtle Beach. It was an incredible trip and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. With blue skies, sun, sand, and the beach we had such a wonderful time that we are already checking our schedules to to figure out how soon we will be able to return!
We flew down on Vision Airlines out of Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Vision Airlines just recently started offering service out of Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati and a few other regional locations directly to Myrtle Beach. I was browsing their website before we left and I have to say, I’m impressed with their prices. They have a number of sales going on now that make flights to Myrtle Beach very affordable.
We took the flight out of Cleveland on Thursday evening. When the plane arrived the sun was just setting and we couldn’t wait to board.
The airplane was a good size with three seats in each row. On both our way down and way back we didn’t have full planes so they allowed the passengers to move around and find seats they were comfortable with. There were many people who enjoyed a full row to themselves on the way back.
This photo was taken when everyone was still boarding. It wasn’t this empty! But the plane was nice and I wanted to share a picture of the interior.
I loved how friendly the flight attendants were. They didn’t just do their jobs and then hide. They were out and about and chatted with various passengers learning about where they were coming from and what their plans were when they arrived at their destination. They shared stories of their own lives as well. It was nice to get to know one another a bit as we waited for the plane to get ready for take off.
Once in the air, I was excited that they actually offered snacks! And good ones too. The shortbread cookies were delicious! I thought this was a nice touch that many airlines overlook these days. I also loved that in nearly every seat was a copy of the Myrtle Beach Visitor’s Guide.
We enjoyed our round trip flight with Vision Airlines and recommend them to anyone flying to Myrtle Beach in the coming months.
Once we arrived in Myrtle Beach we headed straight for Springmaid Beach Resort. I checked out the resort online before we left and spent many minutes watching their live streaming webcam. It’s so fun and offers a great shot of the beach and their pier. Since we’ve returned I have to confess, I’ve been stalking the webcam a bit checking on the weather and daydreaming about the beach.
The hotel is amazing. It’s located at the south end of the Grand Strand and this location makes it feel like you are on a private beach.
Not only did we love the beach at this resort but we enjoyed the Springmaid Pier as well. The pier is over 1,000 feet long and is a great place for a stroll any time of the day.
A look at Springmaid Beach Resort from the far end of the Springmaid Pier -1,000 feet away!
There’s an oversize Adirondack chair to sit in.
We were there during the King Mackeral tournament and it was fun to watch the long, shiny, sparkly fish being caught. We were also amazed to see the school of sharks waiting for any fish leftovers to be tossed over the pier!
Our room at Springmaid Beach Resort was lovely. It was a large room with two queen beds, a dining area, a full refrigerator.
While we loved our, room our favorite part was the balcony that overlooked the beach, the pier, and one of the pools.
Views From Our Balcony
We were pleased with the dining options offered at the resort as well.
BARnacles – This restaurant by the pier has fantastic Fish Tacos & Cuban Sandwiches
Marlins – delicious breakfast buffet with a waffle bar and an omelet station. Lunch and dinner buffets are also available.
And the pools looked amazing! With a number of pools, lazy rivers, hot tubs and the ocean just steps away this resort is every water lovers dream.
The daily activities were fun too. One day they had volleyball, sand castle building, Minute to Win It, and more scheduled. We were so excited to hear about their Sunday night Luau too. It sounded like an unforgettable experience but since we left Sunday afternoon we didn’t get a chance to experience it. It is definitely on our list for our next visit!
We loved Springmaid Beach Resort and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Myrtle Beach. It’s a beautiful place that puts you right on the beach and has so many wonderful amenities it’s sure to be a trip you won’t forget.
While in Myrtle Beach we had some time to drive around and see the sights. We saw the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel which looks like so much fun!
We went on a Dolphin Sightseeing Cruise at Express Watersports. We didn’t see any dolphins but we did see a lot of pelicans and it was a beautiful day for a boat ride so we had fun anyway.
We watched the sunset from the balcony of Gulf Stream Cafe. It was gorgeous.
We had dinner at California Dreaming, which if you’ve never had their appetizer of a Basket of Croissants - you must! They are amazing and definitely the best croissants I’ve ever had. They were topped with honey butter and were so light, fluffy, with just a touch of sweetness I nearly ate the entire order myself!
We also ate Aspen Grille where we enjoyed the Tomato Mozzarella Crostini and Oscar Mahi Mahi. The atmosphere was lovely here, very intimate and cozy, and the food was fine dining at its best and delicious. We were impressed when Dave asked the waiter for a little salt for our sauteed spinach and he brought out three different kinds!
We went to The Carolina Opry. It was an entertaining show that offered a great mix of country and popular music renditions, dancers, and comedy routines.
At The Carolina Opry we truly enjoyed the performances by All That! a clogging/tap dancing group that came in second place on America’s Got Talent. They were our favorite part of the show. Their energy, enthusiasm, and talent were incredible!
We had a fantastic time at Myrtle Beach and we highly recommend flying Vision Airlines and staying at Springmaid Beach Resort.
We enjoyed the flight and the resort as well as all of the other activities and restaurants. We love that Myrtle Beach has so much to offer. It’s an amazing town that encourages you to be on the go every minute of every day while at the same time offering the chance to slow down and spend hours on the beach. Or you can do a bit a both. There really is something for everyone in Myrtle Beach and we can’t wait to go back!
What about you? Have you ever been to Myrtle Beach?
