Hard Rock Hotel Chicago Review

I recently had the opportunity to stay in the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago. One of the very first things that stood out to me about this hotel was the building it is in. It looks to be a very old building and they’ve done a wonderful job honoring that history. When I first walked by the hotel from across the street, I didn’t even realize it was it the Hard Rock. I was expecting the large Hard Rock logo to be in my face and hard to miss. Instead the logos I did see were much smaller than I expected and very tasteful.

Hard Rock Hotel ChicagoOnce I found it I couldn’t get over how the beautiful and tall the building is!

Hard Rock Hotel Chicago ReviewSince I arrived in the morning, check-in wasn’t until 3 pm but I thought I would ask if there was a chance my room was ready. I was in luck. They had a room available on the 4th floor for me and let me know that it was a possibility to get a higher floor but I would have to wait a bit for it. Since I had a meeting to get to, I decided to take the room on the lower floor.

The room was very modern and eclectic. It definitely had a rock feel too it.

Hard Rock Hotel Chicago Iggy PopI have to be honest here. I’m not a fan of Iggy Pop so I wasn’t thrilled with having him as the prominent feature in my room. From what I saw in the rooms of the people I was traveling with, I was pretty lucky. One had a picture of Sting tied up with duct tape over his mouth and another had a picture of Marilyn Manson. After hearing those, I was happy to have Iggy Pop lording over my room.

This one picture did not leave me with a bad impression of the hotel. I kept in mind that  it is a rock lovers hotel and  other guest probably like the picture.

There were many things I loved about the room.  The furniture was unique and reminded me of something a rock star might have in their house or even backstage in their dressing room.

Hard Rock Hotel Chicago ChairThe desk was large and I appreciated the easy access to the wall outlet – it allowed me, at one point, to charge three things at once!

Hard Rock Hotel Chicago DeskThe bed was incredibly comfortable. The pillows were so wonderful, I wanted to them home with me! The bathroom was a nice size and the decor was modern and clean.

Hard Rock Hotel Chicago AmenitiesMy absolute favorite part about my room and the one thing I will forever remember, was the view. I could have sat in the windows all day gazing at the other buildings and watching the traffic, the people crossing the street, as well as the occasional double decker tour buses.

Even though I was only on the 4th floor I thought the view was captivating. I can’t imagine what it must have been like on those higher floors and I can’t wait to return one day to the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago to check it out!

  5. Olivia Rubin says:

I can’t believe that media area wasn’t one the main floor , but rather was in your bedroom. I love the water tower for the view you had and like the wooden headboard. Iggy Pop..it could have been worse as seen on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. You could of had Justin Bieber looking at you!

  6. What a nice view! I like the modern room. Looks like a great hotel.

  7. Nice! I’ve never been to Chicago, but I have relatives in Grand Rapids, MI, that love Hard Rocks. We may have to meet up with them there someday. We stayed at the Hard Rock in Biloxi and really enjoyed it.

  8. md kennedy says:

Funny – I never would have thought of Hard Rock and “tasteful” together (wrt the branding in the hotel) but I am pleasantly surprised. Not sure I dig Iggy watching me sleep, though!

We’ve been talking about going to Chicago again and I would love to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. It really looks like pretty neat rooms. I could look at your pictures forever. The building looks small at the top, but feels like you are going down an elevator as the building looks much closer and larger at the bottom. Love traveling thru your eyes and pictures Thanks.

  24. This sounds like a great hotel. I would love to stay there. Plus I am a fan of Iggy Pop. :) We have been to a couple of different Hard Rock restaurants and love their food. It is a great experience dinning in their restaurants. If we go to Chicago again soon, this is where I want to stay. The kids would love it.

  25. Looks like a fun hotel to stay in. And I absolutely adore Chicago!

  27. Trasina McGahey says:

LOVE the old building and that view! I would have been content sitting in the window all day! Not too crazy about the room decor but clean and comfy takes precedence so as long as it had that going for it!

  28. Betty Baez says:

Very cool! I grew up in Chicago and always wondered what the hotel looked like from the inside

  29. Enjoyed reading this. I agree about Iggy Pop…but yep, definitely better than looking at Sting tied up with duct tape or Marilyn Manson. Actually, I may be traveling to Chicago soon…looking forward to the ‘adventure’.

  30. Jessie C. says:

Love the view! Nice place to stay next time we visit Chicago.

  31. Nice! Very modern and a great view from the 4th floor!

My husband and I don’t live that terribly far from Chicago really (we live in lower Michigan) and we’ve been talking about how it would be nice to take a little trip there and now I know of a great hotel to look into when we do, I love how historical it seems on the outside but LOVEEEEE how modern it is on the inside! I’m scared of heights myself so even a lower level room would be fine with me, tee hee. Thanks for the great review and the photos help a lot.

  33. I like theme rooms. Very original
