I recently had the opportunity to stay in the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago. One of the very first things that stood out to me about this hotel was the building it is in. It looks to be a very old building and they’ve done a wonderful job honoring that history. When I first walked by the hotel from across the street, I didn’t even realize it was it the Hard Rock. I was expecting the large Hard Rock logo to be in my face and hard to miss. Instead the logos I did see were much smaller than I expected and very tasteful.
Since I arrived in the morning, check-in wasn’t until 3 pm but I thought I would ask if there was a chance my room was ready. I was in luck. They had a room available on the 4th floor for me and let me know that it was a possibility to get a higher floor but I would have to wait a bit for it. Since I had a meeting to get to, I decided to take the room on the lower floor.
The room was very modern and eclectic. It definitely had a rock feel too it.
I have to be honest here. I’m not a fan of Iggy Pop so I wasn’t thrilled with having him as the prominent feature in my room. From what I saw in the rooms of the people I was traveling with, I was pretty lucky. One had a picture of Sting tied up with duct tape over his mouth and another had a picture of Marilyn Manson. After hearing those, I was happy to have Iggy Pop lording over my room.
This one picture did not leave me with a bad impression of the hotel. I kept in mind that it is a rock lovers hotel and other guest probably like the picture.
There were many things I loved about the room. The furniture was unique and reminded me of something a rock star might have in their house or even backstage in their dressing room.
My absolute favorite part about my room and the one thing I will forever remember, was the view. I could have sat in the windows all day gazing at the other buildings and watching the traffic, the people crossing the street, as well as the occasional double decker tour buses.
Even though I was only on the 4th floor I thought the view was captivating. I can’t imagine what it must have been like on those higher floors and I can’t wait to return one day to the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago to check it out!
Accommodations were provided as part of the Verizon Wireless Savvy Moms program. The honest opinions are my own.
