Do You Call It Putt-Putt or Mini-Golf?

Last year when we were in Orlando, Logan asked one morning if we could go play “Putty-putt.” And Kora asked a little while later if we were going to play “Golf-golf.” They had us laughing. We did get a chance to go and had a great time, complete with holes-in-one all around!

Disney World Summerland WinterlandWhen we paid for our clubs and balls I was talking to the kids and said something about playing “putt-putt.” The cashier corrected me with a somewhat stern look and said, “You mean mini-golf.”

Putt PuttI then realized when I searched online for putt-putt places everything was called mini-golf.

It got me thinking. Has it always been called mini-golf? Is putt-putt a term my family uses or is it what mini-golf used to be called?

What do you think? Do you call it “putt-putt” or “mini-golf?”

  33. This made me laugh. We have this discussion almost every time we go to play. I really think Putt-putt is like a brand name for mini-golf. Like the corporation called “putt-putt” used to own all the mini-golf places so everyone called it putt-putt. Personally, we call it mini-golf if it looks like a little golf course with water traps and sand traps, but we call it putt-putt if it is goofy with windmills and such.
